Vision ProblemsHere at James S. Linville, O.D., we are dedicated to diagnosing diseases that may be causing you to have vision problems.

There are many reasons why you might be having trouble with your vision. However, the most common ones are listed below. We see these every day and are committed to addressing them to give you the vision you deserve.

Astigmatism means that your cornea or lens is not curved the way it is supposed to be. It can be uneven or irregular, making your vision blurry or even distorted. Many people with astigmatism suffer from headaches and eye fatigue from squinting to see far away.

Most people are affected by astigmatism only mildly so treatment is not always needed. If your astigmatism is moderate to severe, we can treat it with eyeglasses, contacts, or even LASIK surgery.

Hyperopia is also called farsightedness. It means that your vision is good at a distance but not close-up. This occurs because your eyeball is shorter than normal. Your cornea may also have too little curvature, causing you to have difficulty with reading.

If your hyperopia is very mild, you may not have to treat it. If it needs treatment, we can use eyeglasses, contacts, or even LASIK surgery.

Presbyopia, also known as aging eyes, is another disease that will change your vision. Presbyopia is when the lens in your eye loses it flexibility so it has trouble focusing on things that are close to you. However, when you look in the distance, you can see clearly.

Presbyopia happens with age, so we can’t prevent it. We often use corrective lenses like bifocals to help you see clearly.

Myopia is usually called nearsightedness. You can see just fine up close, but you have trouble with your distance vision. You may have trouble watching television or even reading road signs. Many people have headaches and suffer eyestrain from struggling to see clearly. Myopia can be treated with eyeglasses, contacts, or even LASIK surgery.

Our entire staff is dedicated to your vision. We believe that everyone deserves to see clearly so we will do whatever we can to give you clear vision.
